Includes a Monitorial Schoolroom opened in 1837, designed by Joseph Lancaster for one Master to teach 330 boys, and a rare, purpose built Galleried Classroom, opened in 1853. Both classrooms furnished and equipped to demonstrate lessons of their eras. There is also an Edwardian classroom and a 1940/50s classroom for visitors to enjoy. The Headmaster's House is furnished to late Victorian era. We offer a Family trail, optional guided tours and a programme of activities throughout the year. Facilities include gift shop and small cafe. The museum provides a varied education programme for schools and colleges - contact the Education team.
